3.4 Highly cited publications
For the period 2014-2018, Figures 3.4.1 points to the number of highly cited publications per Region for percentile levels 1%, 5%, 10%, 25% and 50%, i.e. the publications that belong respectively to the top 1%, 5%, 10%, 25% and 50% of the most cited publications in the world.
Publications produced by all Regions were found to be among the 1% most highly cited publications worldwide.
Figure 3.4.2 displays the percentage of the highly cited publications per Region for percentile levels 1%, 5%, 10%, 25% and 50%. Data refer to the last 5-year period 2014-2018, and values above the percentile levels indicate performance levels higher than the world average.
